Paris day 1

The first day in Paris I visited one of my favourite places there: The market of Saint Ouen. I've posted about it before here. I love this place so much with all the antique stuff. The vintage camera's were so beautiful! I bought some old pictures I will probably use for my scrapbooks. More Paris pics will follow!

Made by hand

I'm back from Paris! I love that city so much! Can't wait to plan my next trip again! I think I'm gonna wait till it gets a bit warmer though cause it was freezing! Because of the cold I didn't take as much pictures as I wanted to. My hands were frozen after a few minutes without my gloves on! The day I was leaving it was snowing and Paris looks beautiful when everything is all white. I will show you some of the pictures I took with my digital camera in the next couple of days. I also took some pictures with my analogue camera's, I think they will be developed next week.

Took this picture in the train (Thalys) to Paris wich brought me there in 2,5 hours! I borrowed this gorgeous book by Pia Jane Bijkerk from Lenneke from A little hamster. The book is filled with adresses of gorgeous shops in Paris. I didn't have the time to visit them all but the ones I did visit were great! On my next trip I think I will make a 'made by hand' route so I won't miss out on any of these shops!

Packing my bags for Paris..

I'm leaving tomorrow morning! Doing some last minute packing now!! I'm excited! I found this tiny french dictionary I'm gonna take with me, it might come in handy!

I don't think I'm gonna post for a few days cause I want to enjoy every minute in Paris! I hope you will all have a great week, I know I will.. :)

My big source of inspiration...

When I'm out of inspiration I always take a look in this book by Tim Walker. It was my christmas present from last year and I still love it! His gorgeous pictures, sketches and scrapbooks always make me want to get back to work! He's so creative, I wish I could be his assistant... :)

Paris Paris!

I'm going to Paris again next week! I'm gonna:

look at all the beautiful buildings

take pictures of all the pretty carrousels
visit some of my favourite places there
do some vintage shopping

walk along the Seine
imagine myself living there
eat some delicious sweets
visit all the tourist attractions though I've seen them so many times before

take pictures of all the pretty french signs (even though they're about the garbage cans).

Does anyone have some more suggestions for me?

Sleepy..

Wish I could stay in bed all day, I'm so tired! It's really cold outside and it's raining cats and dogs! I have to work today..

Sinterklaas

Let me tell you the story of Sinterklaas. It does sound a lot like Santa Claus and it looks a bit alike, but there are some differences. Sinterklaas comes somewhere in november with a boat from Spain and stays a few weeks until the 5th ofdecember. That's when we celebrate Sinterklaas' Eve. He comes with his 'Pieten', who are a bit like his assistants. They are black from the soot because they bring presents through the chimney (like Santa) to put in your shoe wich you can put next to the fireplace (with a carrot in it for Sinterklaas his white horse) at the day Sinterklaas arrives in Holland. The 5th of december is the big day cause that's the day you get a lot of presents wich are brought in a jute sack.

The good thing about Sinterklaas is that he also brings lots of sweets: Speculaas (kind of sweet spicy biscuit), pepernoten (tiny spiced biscuits wich taste a little bit like gingerbread), sweet colored candy and lots of different kind of chocolate with my favourite: The chocolate letter. You can get them in all these different kind of flavours: Milk, plain, white chocolat, filled with nuts or praline. I always prefer the plain ones... Hmmmm.. Delicious!!!

Have you ever heard about Sinterklaas before? I think in France they call him St. Nicholas.. I hope this story made a little sense.. :)

Wintersun..

A good thing about winter in Holland is that the sun is lower than in summer wich gives this beautiful light. It's streaming through my window and reaches other places in my house wich look much prettier with some sunbeams on it. Just wish winter could always be like this but most of the time it's raining here...
