I served the King of England
I recently saw this movie 'I served the King of England'. It's a Czech movie directed by Jiří Menzel based on the Novel by Bohumil Hrabal wich tells the story of a little man called Dítě. He's working as a waiter but has the ambition to become a millionaire. It's such a funny movie with some beautiful scenes in it. I actually did a shoot inspired by a scene from this movie. I will post the shoot later. If you can find this movie somewhere you should definitely go and watch it!

Who stole the tarts?

A few weeks ago I heard Alice in Wonderland was not going to play in Dutch cinemas but I'm so glad they decided they would play it anyway! I saw it yesterday and I loved it!!! I must say it turned out different than I thought but I just think that's just a good thing! I love how everything was made and of corse Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were amazing! I didn't know who Mia Wasikowska (Alice) was before but I think she's really cute! She's got this angelic face, just gorgeous...
Everyone knows the original story of Alice in Wonderland and in this version of Tim Burton Alice is returning to Wonderland again. Though I really liked everything in the movie I would have loved some more flashbacks to the original story..
Is there anyone who has seen it yet? Would like to hear your opinion!

I found the first version of Alice in Wonderland from 1903 directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow. It's a silent movie and if you have the time you should definitely watch it, it's not even 10 minutes long!

Button your eyes
I've seen the movie Coraline a few months ago on dvd and I really liked it but when I watched it I didn't know it was a stop-motion movie! I just heard that last week and I was really surprised cause it's all done so beautiful! I thought everything was computer animated!
You can take a trip though Coraline's house on the website and find some great things like the pretty images below. Did you see this movie? If you haven't you really should!

Alice
I'm a bit sad.. I just heard Tim Burton's upcoming movie Alice in Wonderland will not be shown in Dutch theaters because of a disagreement between Disney and the theaters about the DVD release date!! So now I have to wait till June for the DVD... :( I was really looking forward to seeing the movie wich will probably be spectacular!!
A while ago I saw the version of Alice in Wonderland (Neko Z Alenky) by Jan Svankmajer, a great Czech filmmaker who has been a big influence to the Quay Brothers and to Tim Burton! Despite the freaky rabbit I really liked this version. It's so creative, esspecially if you consider this movie was made in 1987. Did you see it already?
